Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated 29 June 2026

Scope

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to everyone who uses OmniStream - publishers who list APIs and consumers who call them. It is part of our Terms of Service. We may update it as new forms of abuse emerge.

Prohibited content and activity

You may not use the Service, or any API reached through it, to:

  • do anything illegal, or that facilitates illegal activity;
  • infringe intellectual-property, privacy, or other rights;
  • distribute malware, phishing, or fraudulent content;
  • harass, threaten, or harm others, or publish hateful or sexually exploitative material;
  • expose or process personal data without a lawful basis, or expose special-category data without proper safeguards.

Platform integrity

You may not:

  • probe, scan, or test the security of the Service, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to it or any account;
  • circumvent metering, rate limits, authentication, or billing;
  • share, sell, or sublicense your Omni keys, or resell access without our written permission;
  • interfere with, overload, or degrade the Service, the gateway, or any upstream API (including denial-of-service, excessive automated traffic, or scraping at a rate that harms an upstream);
  • reverse engineer the Service except to the limited extent the law allows.

Rules for publishers

If you list an API, you must:

  • either own the API, have explicit permission from the owner to list it, or submit it as a Community listing (no ownership claimed) in accordance with our Terms of Service;
  • share only upstream credentials you are authorized to provide;
  • accurately describe what your API does and the data it returns;
  • not return unlawful, infringing, or deceptive content; and
  • comply with the laws and third-party terms that apply to your data and its sources.

Fair use and automated traffic

Plans include rate limits. Automated and high-volume use must stay within your plan and must not place an unreasonable load on the Service or on any upstream. We may throttle, suspend, or charge for usage that exceeds fair limits.

Sanctions and export control

You may not use the Service in violation of applicable export-control or sanctions laws, or from a sanctioned territory.

Enforcement

We may investigate suspected violations and may remove content, throttle, suspend, or terminate accounts, and cooperate with law enforcement where appropriate. We try to give notice when we can, but may act immediately to protect the Service, its users, or third parties.
